  1. In the days following the cease-
  2. fire, hundreds of thousands of Is-
  3. raelis converged upon Jerusa-
  4. lem.  The walls and barbed wire 
  5. which had divided the city were 
  6. bulldozed and mine fields dis-
  7. mantled.  Signs posted along the 
  8. scar separating east and west 
  9. Jerusalem reading: "Danger, 
  10. Border Ahead," could finally be 
  11. removed.  Arab residents also 
  12. ventured across the still visible 
  13. line to explore the Jewish city.  
  14. Friendships broken off 19 years 
  15. earlier could once again be re-
  16. newed.
